Intro

Acute lower back pain is a common condition, and acupuncture has been investigated as an alternative treatment option. Several studies have evaluated its effectiveness compared to standard treatments such as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).

Acupuncture is more effective than NSAIDs in alleviating symptoms, and it shows superiority over sham acupuncture for pain relief (Lee 2013 – Systematic Review of 11 RCTs).
